
José Torres País, subdirector of ETSE-UV and responsible of the Chair Würth-EMC with Jorge Victoria, Division Manager of Würth Elektronic; and the professor Francisco Grimaldo have collected today the awards of the Social Council of the Universitat de València in the categories of Award of Institutional or Business Chairs and the Award to Training Excellence, respectively. The event of the ceremony of the 23rd edition of the Awards Universitat-Societat of the Board of Trustees took place in the Assembly Hall of the Foundation University-Business of the Universitat de València (ADEIT) at 7:30 p.m. The work of both awardees for the university and the society was outlined.
The Würth-EMC is since 2015 the first International Chair of the Universitat de València and constitutes a comprehensive collaboration between the Universitat and Würth Elektronik eiSos.
The Chair covers the fields of research, innovation, dissemination and teaching for the proper integration of the university community in the social and business world. Among the developed activities, we should highlight the recruitment of research personnel and the implementation of doctoral thesis in the field of electromagnetic compatibilities. Additionally, we should also mention the final bachelor’s and master’s degrees projects, the organisation of international conferences, seminars and workshops in the facilities of ETSE-UV with the involvement of Valencian companies. As a result of this successful collaboration, the centre of R&D Würth in Spain was created. Since November 2018, it is located in the facilities of the Science Park of the Universitat de València.
Francisco Grimaldo is professor of the Department of Computer Science. He graduated in Computing Engineering, Technical Telecommunication Engineering (Telematics) and became a doctor (extraordinary award) in the Universitat de València. He is currently the subdirector of ETSE-UV and director of the Chair Capgemini-UV to innovation in the development of the programme.
He has obtained excellent results in the assessment of his teaching task and has led an interuniversity innovation teaching network with 10 competitive projects. He is the author of 6 teaching materials of bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He has also published 26 articles in magazines and teaching congresses. He has been a visiting professor in many foreign universities and has been involved in a lot of activities for improving teaching. He has worked in different positions of academic management promoting the quality of Engineering and Data Science Studies of the Universitat de València. In terms of research, he has focused on the simulation and modelling based on agents, machine learning, web engineering and the analysis of data.
