Around thirty people attended on Tuesday to a video conference organised by the ETSE-UV, in which the WolframSystemModeler and the new WolframmMathematica 10 were published live from Oxford and Moscow.
Mathematica is computing application, visualisation and development application that is available for the students of the Universitat de València. It is a tool that can be used both in the education and the research field. Mathematica invites to live the experience of “interactive class” so that the students have the possibility of exploring and better understanding different concepts.
The programme has code wizard that enables that people with dyslexia work easier, since it helps the users and allows them to start working without coding knowledge. Also, Mathematica has the capacity of adapting to the different personal ways of working, thanks to its artificial intelligence.
The application has a great potential to work with signals and allows the manipulation of 2D and 3D images, to be use as software in the social networks, to create real-time reports, as well as many other resources. On the other hand, WolframAlpha constitutes the search engine for Mathematica and converts immediately all the systematic knowledge in computing knowledge. This search engine can be used by students to check, for instance, the result of integral mathematical calculations and to help them understand it through graphics or 3D figures.
The last version of Mathematica has new tools like the prediction of time series in a more developed way; the capacity of carrying out semantics interpretations; the layout of the data in real-time and the possibility of providing them to an addressee with the function SendMessage; as well as the geometric computing with complex regions.
WolframMathemtica collaborates with the Master’s Degree in Data Science of the ETSE-UV, which will be offered from the next academic year and will be supported by firms related to the data analysis and with the currently known Big Data. The Master’s Degree has as general objective the training and specialisation of the students in the manipulation, transformation, analysis and visualisation of data, so that the students are able of obtaining useful knowledge from those data. This postgraduate degree will serve as a tool to join the interdisciplinary and interdepartmental capacities related to the data analysis within the Universitat de València.
