The Equality Unit of the Universitat de València together with the School of Engineering (ETSE-UV) and the organization WIE-IEEE Spain invited the entire university community, students and teachers of secondary and upper secondary school education and general public to attend at the lecture ‘Mujer e ingeniería’ (Women and Engineering). One plus one does not always equal two, will be held on Wednesday 10 December from 11:30 at the ‘Saló de Graus Joan Pelechano’ of the School of Engineering.
The lecture will be delivered by the professor of the University of Zaragoza Pilar Molina Gaudó, who since 1999 has held various positions within the Insititute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), including president of the Spanish Section and president of Women in Engineering (WIE). Furthermore, Pilar is co-author of the book El mundo necesita ingenieras. ¿Quieres ser una? (The world needs women engineers. Do you want to be one?) and has organised the Girl’s day at the University of Zaragoza.
The conference aims to bring together, on the one hand, students from 4th ESO (Spanish secondary education) until the first years of the degree in engineering and, on the other hand, teachers and professionals in the field of engineering to promote and increase the presence of women in both engineering studies as later in professional activities where their presence is still marginal.
