Adaptation to new undergratuate degrees
For students who did not complete a phased-out degree: Diplomatura (3-year Bachelor’s Degree), Ingeniería Técnica (3-year Degree in Engineering), Ingeniería (5-year Degree in Engineering) or a Licenciatura (5-year Bachelor’s Degree)
Completed subjects in your ‘old’ academic record will be validated by corresponding subjects in the new degree programme in accordance with the Equivalence Chart set for each degree (see below), establishing equivalences with previous degree programmes.
If the degree of correspondence between subjects is high, the grade/mark obtained in the original subject is also transferred. If two or more original subjects are needed to establish the equivalence, the transferred grade will be the weighted average. If the grade in one of the original subjects were an A+ (Sp. matrícula de honor), this will be also transferred to the new record if and only if the weighted average is higher than 9 (out of 10).
For the purposes of adaptation to the current degree programme, the following Equivalence Chart is used for reference, and the four exam attempts for each subject set by the regulations are observed
Adaptation to the new undergraduate degree of the students of Ingeniería in Computer Science (2000 Plan, 5 years)
In accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007, students who have begun their studies in Ingeniería in Computer Science (5-year degree) at the time of the introduction of the new Degree in Informatics Engineering may choose to continue and finish their studies or to request their adaptation to the new undergraduate degree. The following criteria must be met for the adaptation (applied in the order listed below):
1. Depending on the level of completed studies in the current Ingeniería in Computer Science, three access points to the new undergraduate degree have been established, depending on whether the student is in one of the following cases:
- Students who have passed all the first-year subjects of Ingeniería in Computer Science (5-year degree): 60 credits are recognised in the new undergraduate degree.
- Students who have passed all first-cycle Core and Compulsory subjects (years 1, 2 and 3) of Ingeniería in Computer Science (5-year degree), without taking into account the subject "13059 Systems and Signals": 114 credits recognised in the new undergraduate degree.
- Students who have passed all first-cycle Core and Compulsory subjects (years 1, 2 and 3) of the Ingeniería in Computer Science, without taking into account the subject "13059 Systems and Signals" but including the optional subject "13022 User Environments" and all second-cycle core and compulsory subjects, except for "13048 Language Processors" and "13055 Computer Systems" (final degree project): the first three years (180 credits) of the undergraduate degree are recognised.
2. After considering the above criteria, if a student was not in any of the three cases, or if they were but have passed subjects from the programme to be phased out which have not been considered for the adaptation, a recognition system of subjects areas from the undergraduate degree (group of subjects) will be applied depending on the subjects that the student has completed in the programme to be phased out.
3. If after applying the above criteria, a student had passed subjects that have not been used to recognise any subject of the new undergraduate degree, a recognition system of individual subjects from the undergraduate degree will be applied.
4. Ultimately, if a student had passed subjects from the programme to be phased out that have not been used to recognise any subject under the three above criteria, those subjects may be recognised as optional subjects in the new undergraduate degree.
