This year, she is the scientist in our ‘you can also be...’ section of the Experimenta 2026 Fair-Competition rules.

This year we dedicate our traditional section of the participation basis to Hala J. El-Khozondar, physicist trained at New Mexico State University (USA) and Max Planck Institute (Germany) and university professor in Gaza (Palestine). Now at Imperial College London, following the destruction of Gaza's universities. Her work on polycrystalline materials for solar panels, metamaterials, and fiber optic sensors has earned her awards such as the TWAS-UNESCO Medal.

The Experimenta Fair aims to promote the practice of science and technology and its dissemination by involving secondary school students hands-on, with a focus on the active participation of women in these STEM fields. Aware of the importance of references, for years we have included in our BASIS OF PARTICIPATION the section ‘YOU CAN ALSO BE....’ dedicated to publicise a multitude of women scientists and technologists who have developed research, patents, prototypes in many interesting areas and with great social repercussions.
