Food&HealthLL scope of application includes four places (right after the projects in which they have worked on are being specified):

  • University Community. The project’s lines of action is confined to the users community of the University of Valencia and includes mobility among its units in Valencia, Paterna and Burjassot (action radius of approximately 25 km).
  • Placement. It has created two institutions:
    • A Nutrition and Food Safety Observatory for the World in Development-Universitat de València collaborating with the Conselleria de Inmigración y Ciudadanía of the Valencian Government (GVA 3014/2007). Former FAO General Director; Doctor Jacques Diouf is the Honorary President (who became Honorary President the 19th of December of 2008). This Observatory won the Social Research prize during the award ceremony “Valencia se Solidariza” XI Edition organised by the local government of Valencia. Its main purpose is to develop a guide that provides the underprivileged ones updated information about places in Valencia where to eat, sleep and wash up, so they can improve their living conditions. Moreover, it has also improved the training of the host families of Sahrawi and Ukrainian children, ameliorating children’s quality of life during the summer period.
    • The Observatory of Native and Quality Cookery of the Valencian Community-Universitat de València collaborating with the Conselleria de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación (2009-QAD-SCC-00221). Its main aim is to develop new products from local raw materials in order to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the local industry. Within this project it is worth stressing the publication of the first book about Valencian tiger nut milk drink.
  • National. It has created the following projects:
    • RENDIDEPOR. Project funded by the Universitat de València (UV-AE-20070219) for the anthropometric and nutritional evaluation of university athletes.
    • MICOKWASHIORKOR. Project funded by the Ministry of Education and Science (AGL2007-28623-E) for the study of the relation between mycotoxins and kwashiorkor.
    • ENTEROTOXINOMICS. Project financed by the Valencian Government (GVA072/2009) for developing new food analysis tools through the use of proteomics.
    • RADIOALI. Project financed by the Nuclear Security Council (2696/SRO) applied to the study of food radioprotectors for its use in health workers and patients subjected to radiation.
    • EDUCALIANZA. Financed by the Ministry of Education and Science (EDU2009-05823-E) for the creation of material used in the Alliance of Civilizations National Plan. This made possible the incorporation of Spain, last May 2015, as the member state number 32 in the programme Silk Road of the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), after the acceptance of the request made by the Ministry of Industry on demand of the Valencian Community.
    • RENDICAFE. Financed by Spanish Coffee Federation (2/09/2010) applied to the study about hydration and athletic efficiency.
    • FRUCTOPARASITO. Financed by Health Research Institute-Fundación for the Research in Hospital Universitario y Politécnico La Fe of Valencia (2014/0396) for the study of the relation between intestinal worms and hereditary fructose intolerance.
  • International.
    • MILKBANK. Project financed by Universitat de València (SN 07.949) for the creation of the first Breast Milk Bank in Peru.
    • EGYPTOBNUSEGAL. Project financed by Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency (AECID) from 2007 to 2011 (A1/035779/11) for the headquarter creation of Food Security Nutrition Observatory for Developing World-Universitat de València based in the National Research Centre (NRC) in Cairo for the egyptian nutrition study as well as the development of food preventive security measures of food served on the street.
    • FLASHDIET. Financed by European Commission (2014/1/17037714-SI2.695146) for developing assistance-training-research activities in terms of nutrition and population.
