Seventy students, on behalf of governing bodies and associations from the Universitat de València, have participated in the IX Trobada de Representants (IX Meeting of Representatives), celebrated on 28 February at l’Espai Vives. The event, consolidated as a reference space in training for the representation, aims to reinforce competencies, share experiences, and promote the active participation of students in university life.

The Trobada de Representants (Representative Meeting), boosted by the Student Delegation and organisated by the Information and Promotion Service for Students (Sedi), is a very good opportunity for students who take on representation tasks to be trained, to meet other representatives, and to share concerns and opinions about the University. “With this annual meeting, the University wants to improve the resources and the capacities for the active participation of students in the governance of the academic institution”, stated Marcos Durà, Delegate of the Student’s Principal, during his opening statement of the IX Trobada. “The fact that students participate in the governing bodies’ politics and decisions is, undoubtedly, a commitment from the University, and a service for the whole university community”, he added.
During the event, the students have attended several formation activities: the workshop “La re-presentació” – instructed by Alícia Villar Aguilés, professor of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology from the Universitat de València – the lecture “How do we promote participation through associations” – carried out by the representatives from the Valencian Youth Council (CJV) – and “Espai violeta (Violet Space) – What to do in case of harassment at the Universitat de València”, carried out by Pau Serrano, expert from the Equality and Diversity Unit of the University.
Depending on their preferences, students have participated in a workshop among the following three options: “Discover the student’s rights and stand up” – carried out by Paula Sala, former coordinator of l’AGE, and students’ assistant of the Ombuds Office from the Universitat de València (2019-2022) – “Communication abilities inside the framework of the student’s representation practice” – carried out by Fani Grande, writer and expert in communication – and “Dialogue and agreement in the framework of the University student’s representation" – carried out by Héctor Tronchoni, professor of the UV Department of Education Theory.
