On 9 March, La Nau Cultural Centre hosted the Seventh Meeting of Representatives which was attended by eighty students, members of the Universitat's governing bodies and associations with representation. The aim of this initiative is to improve students’ resources and skills for participation and governance.

The Seventh Meeting of Student Representatives is an opportunity for students who take on representative tasks to train, get to know each other and exchange concerns and visions about the Universitat they want to build. In his opening speech, Marcos Durà, delegate of the principal, stressed the importance of participating, especially for the new members of the assemblies of student representatives of the centres (ADR) and the General Assembly of Students (AGE), as it will allow them to learn more about “the tools for an active participation in university co-governance”.

During the day, participants attended various training activities: Alícia Villar, professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology of the UV, gave a workshop on Re-representation, and Isabel Núñez Ruiz, psychologist and specialist in gender violence at the Universitat's Equality Unit, explained how the “espacios violeta” work and the Universitat de València's protocol for action in the event of harassment.

In addition, the students participating in the Meeting also attended a workshop to choose from among the three offered: Know the rights of the students and make yourself heard, by Paula Sala, deputy student of the Ombuds Office of the UV between 2019 and 2022; Skills for communication in the context of students representation, by Fani Grande, writer and specialist in communication; and Conflicts management in the context of students representation, by Irene Verde, professor at the Department of Education Theory of the UV.

Ana María Sánchez and Pablo Bottero, from the Valencia Youth Council, explained what this Council consists of and shared some proposals to increase the participation of young people in the associative world.

The participants in the Seventh Meeting of Student Representatives, promoted by the Students Delegation and organised by the SeDi Information and Promotion Service, have rated this initiative very positively and have highlighted that the contents, materials and workshops will help them to develop their work as representatives. According to the satisfaction survey they filled in at the end of the Meeting, they also indicated that it is an activity that they would recommend to other colleagues who are representatives, that a good atmosphere has been created and that it has met the expectations of the participants.
