The judges of the 29th Mostra art públic / Universitat pública (Art public / public university exhibition) presented the twelve projects that will turn the Burjassot and Blasco Ibáñez campuses from the Universitat de València into places of artistic intervention open to society and will receive each one 2.000€ for their realisation.
The chosen projects in this new edition of Mostra art públic stand out for their link to topics of social relevance such as HIV-AIDS, the review of critical pedagogies or the role of activism nowadays. It also must be noted, in terms of formats and production of the projects, the experimental use of sustainable materials and the use of solar energy in the artistic production.
This way, out of the 63 presented proposals, the judges chose the following artistic interventions:
- Bajo la sombra de una Runcaria, de Pedro Bella
- Aureola Infinita, d’Ana Císcar i Rubén Marín
- La consigna, de Veïna. Art Contemporani de Proximitat (Verónica Francés i Alfonso Segura).
- Paisaje del rostro amado, de Iván Arana
- Ese espejo ya sol, de Fermín Jiménez Landa
- Lo que puede un banco, de María Laudes i Paco Inclán
- DEPARTMENT OF LEGACY STUDIES, de Sergio Delicado
- CAMISA ANTIADULTISTA, de Lluc Mayol
- /bibliografia, d’Elisa Terroba
- El lado oscuro de la luna, de Claudia Müller
- Archivo de rocas errantes, de Nuria Rodríguez
- Lazos de agua. Redes que sostienen la vida, de Geraldine Rivera & Luisa Tovar
As in every edition, to assess the projects a professional jury has been selected. This time, the jury was composed by Isabel Tejeda –full professor of Fine Arts at the University of Murcia–, Teresa Juan –cultural manager and specialised artist in visual and scenic arts–, Albert Moncusí –vice-rector for Culture, Sports and Social Link of the Universitat de València–, technical staff from the Information and Promotion Service for Students (Sedi) from the Universitat de València.
Art públic / universitat pública at the Burjassot and Blasco Ibáñez campuses
Every selected artist will receive an allocation of 2.000 € for the realisation and staging of the work at the 29th Mostra art públic / Universitat pública, that will take place from 2 to 30 October, at the Burjassot campus, and from 30 October to 27 November, at the Blasco Ibáñez campus.
The Mostra art públic / Universitat pública is an initiative that the Information and Promotion Service for Students (Sedi) organises with the collaboration with the Vice-rector for Culture, Sports and Social Link. It tries to revitalise the spaces of the Burjassot and Blasco Ibáñez campuses and to transform the university environment in a place of artistic intervention open to society. For this reason, a professional jury selects ephemeral artistic projects that reflect upon the approach of contemporary art to science and social and human sciences, turning them into the detonating of other transversal knowledge and that they interact with the university space.
