Alejandro Armellini
Professor and Dean of Digital and Distributed Learning at the University of Portsmouth (UK). Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. He has also worked at the universities of Kent, Manchester, Leicester and Northampton in the UK, and at ORT Uruguay University in Montevideo
Training objectives
- To review and critique current assessment practices.
- To reflect on new challenges to assessment in the field of academic integrity.
- To consider assessment strategies, practices and instruments that often sit outside the status quo.
- To plan the possible deployment of some of the above in participants’ own academic settings.
Competencies to be developed
By the end of this workshop, participants will have
- Reviewed and challenged current assessment practices.
- Raised their own awareness of new challenges to assessment, including from artificial intelligence applications.
- Put forward alternative approaches and instruments for assessment redesign to address such challenges.
- Discussed ways to engage others (especially the more reluctant colleagues) in these debates.
- Developed a simple action plan.
Criteria and procedure for evaluation of the activity
To obtain the final certification, you must obtain the qualification "Apt" in the course and therefore must have met the following evaluation criteria:
- Attendance at the entire workshop.
- Active contribution to the tasks.
