Master Objectives

These are the general objectives of the master's degree:

  • Know and understand the nature of biodiversity and its types.
  • Know and understand the theories and hypothesis more representative regarding the processes responsible of biodiversity's origin, its fluctuations and its dangers.
  • Know and understand the methods and techniques that are necessary to conserve and manage biodiversity, training the future professionals to carry out their work both in public organisms and through private initiatives:

- Central government, autonomic communities and city councils

- Regional councils and council offices

- Protected natural areas

- Botanical gardens and zoological reserves

- Scientific collections (herbaria, entomological and paleontological collections, etc.) or germplasm banks

- Environmental agencies

- Engineering companies

- Foundations for the protection of nature

- Etc.

  • Acquire preparation for teaching about diversity in its diverse aspects: zoological, botanical, ecological and evolutionary for the future professionals of different educational levels, interested in increasing they knowledge in these fields.
  • Acquire preparation for starting out in research, both basic and applied, about the different groups of living beings, not only existing now but also fossils, and about all aspects of systemic and evolutionary character of present and past biodiversity.
