The Faculty of Economics (FdE) of the Universitat de València inaugurated the 2025-2026 academic year with a solemn event for its master’s programmes.

This event has not only welcomed the new cohort of postgraduate students, but it has also asserted the position of the Faculty and the University as reference institutions in the international education field. 

An international reference

During the event, the importance and the institutional impact of the Universitat de València was highlighted, being recognised as one of the most ancient and prestigious universities of Spain. In particular, the Faculty of Economics was the focal point thanks to its international consolidated prestige, continuously supported by the main academic rankings. This excellence is not only reflected on research, but also in the ability of attracting international talent and in the close connection with the business sector. This assures master’s degree students to be trained in an environment of high requirement and professional recognition. 

Inaugural lecture – AI in the Spanish company’s DNA

The culminating moment of the session was the inaugural lecture called “AI in the Spanish company – from strategy to action”, presented by Ignasi Pons, managing director of Zona Levante in SEIDOR. Pons provided a pragmatic and necessary perspective of how AI has gone from being a future promise to the current engine of competitiveness in Spain. The lecture itemised the roadmap that leading companies in Spain are following to incorporate this technology. Ignasi Pons emphasised that success does not only lie in the adoption of technology, but also in the critical step from strategy to implementation. 

 The selection of the theme for the course opening highlights the philosophy of the Faculty of Economics: training professionals who not only master economic and business fundamentals, but who are also able to lead technological changes. The lecture made clear that the current market asks for profiles that know how to interpret the strategic vision in tangible outcomes with the intelligent use of new digital tools. 

With this event, FdE not only inaugurates a new academic year, but also renews its commitment to being the bridge between a high level of academic knowledge and the real challenges of the company. For new students of the master’s degree, the message is clear: they start their specialization in one of the best faculties of the world, and in the best moment to be the leaders of AI revolution in the business sector.
