Aid for SME and self-employed who use cloud computing solutions

Until the 8th June you can submit  your requests for grants  that awards to companies and self-employed who use cloud computing.

Ministry of Industry, throughout, has set up a grant programme devoted to SMEs and self-employes that use solutions based in cloud computing technologies.

The grant  is for a period of 9 months and the amount ranges from 625 to 15.000 euros per beneficiary. The following requirements must be accomplished to receive the grant: must have less than 250 employees, turnover does not exceed 50 EUR millions, fiscal residence registeres in Spain and company activity must have started before the publication of the bases. establishes ten areas in which grants can be applied:

  • User station;
  • Economic management;
  • Business management;
  • Client relationship;
  • Point of sales management;
  • Online presence;
  • E-commerce;
  • Infrastructure as a service;
  • Development platform as a service;
  • Virtual switchboard.

Companies committed to offering cloud computing services will be selected through a public approval system by general invitation.  Subsequently, a list of selected companies for each categories will be published in web.

Self-employed and companies who aim for the grant must take into account the following dates:

Submission stage of the application form: will be open 18th May 2016 and will be open until 8th June 2016.

Submission stage of documents attached to the request : will be open 9th June 2016 and will be open until 30th June 2016.

Some of the requirements that must be fulfilled by beneficiaries of a grant are that must have less than 250 employees and its turnover does not exceed 50 EUR millions

What is cloud computing technology?

Cloud computing  solutions offer  computing services through a network, that is generally Internet. Its major advantage is that the user has access to a standardised servicecatalogue  that allows him to answer the specific needs in his business.  Cloud computing technology is divided in  three categories  depending on the offered service:

  • Infrastructure as a service. Most abstract level. Provides an infrastructure service to users though Internet.
  • Platform as a service. Intermediate level. Provides a service to users though Internet.
  • Software as a service. Most specific level. Provides an on-demand service to users. is a public business entity attached to the Ministry of Industry whose objective is to encourage information society development in Spain by boosting Internet and new technologies.
