On November 4 and 5, 2019, the 13th Congress of Copyright and Public Interest (CODAIP) was held in the city of Curitiba. CODAIP is a major annual event for Latin American researchers, as well as those from other European countries and the United States, interested in intellectual property, bringing together hundreds of specialists in the field.

Organised by the group of studies in copyright and industrial law (GEDAI), as well as by the Federal University of Paraná and UniCuritiba, the theme chosen for this edition was "Copyright reform in the national and international scenario, in the context of the development of information and communication technologies". The participation of Professor Palao Moreno, in addition to the moderation of some of the tables, mainly developed the panel dedicated to international law and intellectual property, as well as the challenges in this area due to the new information and communication technologies. Specifically, his presentation focused on the recent reforms of intellectual property law in the European Union and the challenges that the Internet and new technologies imply for their regulation and protection in the European environment, without losing sight of the implications of the global context in which they are situated.
