The conference was organised by the Association of Naval and Ocean Engineers and the Foundation ValenciaPort. It took place on 28th March at the Neptuno Room of the Headquarters of the Port Authority of Valencia.

Law 39/2015, of Procedimiento Administrativo Común came into force on 2nd October. For the maritime-port association it is a new development that they have to adapt. Its effective implementation is a new challenge to confront, since communication between government and business can now only be done telematically.

On the other hand, the intention is to make mediation known as a collaborative process in which the parts to the conflict voluntarily try to reach an agreement by themselves. This is assisted by the mediator: an independent and impartial professional, knowledgeable of the sector that manages the procedure and facilitates the obtaining of legally valid agreements, according to the European directive 2008/52/CE, the Law 5/2012 mediation in civil and commercial matters.

For all these reasons, the conference "Practical Application of the E-Maritime and Mediation in the Maritime-Port Sector" was held on 28 March 2017, with the participation of: José Miguel Manaute, maritime captain of Castellón; Silvia Barona, Dr.h.c. mult and president of the Corte de Arbitraje y Mediación de la Cámara de Comercio de Valencia; Adrián Prada, naval engineer and mediator; and Carlos Rodríguez Gayo, dean of the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Navales.
