Women , disability and gender violence : the invisible triangle

The lawyer and member of the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies in Gender Violence at the University of Valencia, José Manuel Peláez Vidagany , has published a new book entitled "Protocols of action in cases of gender violence in dependents ", being the first legal study addresses the phenomenon of gender-based violence in women who are legally considered as controlled from the point of view of disability.

Published by recognized Tirant lo Blanch, with the participation of the Bar Association of Valencia, the Department of Social Welfare and HE . Bolbaite City Council as part of the R & D project MCINN DER 2012_33045 "Protecting victims in the EU: The European Protection Order ," directed by Elena Martínez García , within the Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies in Gender Violence University of Valencia.

This paper presents some of the most important issues of gender violence in relation to dependent women, analyzed from the double discrimination suffered , where specific issues as mainstreaming intersectionality or elements that make up this reality are introduced to end Protective Order and protocols for coordinated action of different actors involved in the matter.

Designed from a multidisciplinary perspective , with this study, the author delves into a specific section of the violence, one that affects particularly vulnerable group of women with dependency and / or disability, that according to the statistics more current could affect around 20% of these women , taking a risk four times higher than the rest.
