On 2 March will take place this conference at the Príncipe Felipe Research Centre that aims to disseminate the news on the research of rare diseases.

The researchers of CIPF (Príncipe Felipe Research Centre) organise the ‘Conference of Women Researchers on Rare Diseases of the Valencian Community’ to give visibility to the last advances in their studies and to the people who suffer these diseases. The Conference will take place on the Principe Felipe Research Centre on Wednesday 2 March. 

This day will be a combination between researchers –who have a wide experience in the sector after many years dedicated to research– and patients. Both parts will dialogue on the need of giving more visibility to this kind of diseases and will show the last medical advances in the treatment of these pathologies. There will also attend women politicians and other representatives from different social sectors. The purpose is clear: to show that those who suffer rare diseases are not isolated nor the researchers that decide to work on this sector.

On 29 February is the Rare Disease Day and on 8 March is the International Women’s Day, so this conference taking place on 2 March is not a matter of luck. It is a key date to give both sectors the importance they deserve, both to people who suffer a rare disease and the women who dedicated their life to investigate on these pathologies. Both parts are put aside from society: one for suffering an unusual disease and another for investigating them knowing that it is a particularly complex field and that it has little resources. This conference will give the recognition both parts deserve.

This ‘Conference of Women Researchers on Rare Diseases of the Valencian Community’ will also give a great broadcasting to the framework agreement to establish an alliance in transnational research in rare diseases of the Valencian Community (Diari Oficial de la Comunitat Valenciana nº 7654 of 10 November 2015) and will strengthen the Rare Diseases as a political priority of public health. 

All the participants of this Conference are women who have international recognition and are essential in the advance of the research on rare diseases.
