Caracoles invasores, cerebros amenazados (‘Invasive snails, threatened brains’) was the most highly rated video podcast among those presented at the dissemination session, held on Wednesday, 29 May 2024. This session was part of the educational innovation project conducted by the students of the Master’s Degree in Tropical Parasitic Diseases.
During the event, all the video podcasts produced by the Master’s students were presented. The attendees were invited to complete a questionnaire to evaluate the works, and the highest-rated was Caracoles invasores, cerebros amenazados. The authors of the video podcast, Laia Personat Ortega, Maria del Pilar Ramírez Utrillas and Eva Sánchez Bayarri, were awarded a symbolic gift and received a standing ovation from all attendees.
In their video podcast, Laia, Maria del Pilar and Eva have succeeded in combining humour and visual dynamism with scientific information. They approach the subject as future health professionals, while also considering the everyday perspective. The result is an entertaining and instructive video that promotes prevention without resorting to scare tactics and provides practical advice on how to continue enjoying visits to the countryside and traditional gastronomy safely.
This event is part of an educational innovation project (UV-SFPIE-PIEE-2732938) following the call for applications of the UV’s Office of the Vice-Principal for Lifelong Learning, Teaching Transformation and Employment.
The Lifelong Learning and Educational Innovation Service has published the videos of participating students on its YouTube channel, which is accessible to the university community and the general public.
