Convenio FVMP

The principal of the Univeristat, Mª Vicenta Mestre, the vice president of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) and Godella’s mayor, Eva Sanchis, have signed a collaborative agreement for the joint realisation of training, advisory and research activities.

The agreement allows to promote the teaching development, the transmition of knowledge and the research in every area related with the administration and the local public sector from a multidisciplinary perspective between both institutions.

In that aspect, the Universitat is comitted to organise postgraduate and permanent training courses that have local matters as a principal study item.  Furthermore, the realisation of internships will be provided for the students of the Universitat as well as in the different local institutions that form the FVMP to improve their social insertion.

The principal Mª Vicenta Mestre has expressed that “as the public university that we are, we have the mission to transfer to society, because if we improve the public managers’ competences, society would benefit from it, hence we all would benefit from it.”

On her part, the vice president Eva Sanchis has remarked “the positive valuation of the agreement which allows the training of people who comes from the municipalism, officials as well as the new elected officials who will take office soon, for them to have a better knowledge that enable them to make the best decisions and to be better officials for the public entities.”

This agreement is a renovation and an update of objectives and contents of an agreement signed in 1987 between the Universitat and the FVMP thanks to the mutual interest of joint collaboration. The interest of both institutions has been materialised in the approach of two courses that will begin on October.

The first course is entitled “University Expert in Local Governance” and is directed by Pablo Oñate and Óscar Barberà, meanwhile the second course is entitled “University Expert in the New Legal System and Public Administrations” directed by Andres Boix.

The first course is on-site and is oriented to local and autonomic elected officials.  The second course is semi-virtual and it is oriented to the technical staff of public administrations, especially the Valencian administration. It should be noted that both courses will benefit from the presence of the FVMP, as well as UV teachers, whom will impart all the teaching in Valencian.

To the sign of the agreement have also attended the vice-principal of Studies and Linguistic Policy, Isabel Vázquez and the manager of the academic institution, Juan Vicente Climent.

The Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces aims to defend the interests of Valencian municipalities and to coordinate wills and actions. In that sense, the FVMP operates as a bonding bridge on the productive development of the daily activity and as a vindication of the interests that the Federation represents, which defends the Valencian towns and cities.
