Biography

Rosa Adam Ortiz (Llombai, 1985) obtained her bachelor degree in Pharmacy in 2008 at the Universitat de València. In 2013, she recieved her PhD degree at the same university under the supervision of professors Belén Abarca and Rafael Ballesteros. Her PhD studies, in the field of organic chemistry, were funded by a FPI fellowship granted by Generalitat Valenciana. During her PhD, she performed a research stay at the ECPM of Université de Strasbourg. Next, she moved to the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis where she worked as postdoctoral researcher in the group of professor Matthias Beller, with a grant funded by Fundación Ramón Areces. In 2017 she returned to Comunitat Valenciana as postdoctoral researcher in the Instituto de Tecnologia Química (ITQ, Universitat Politècnica de València – CSIC) and in 2018 she was granted with a postdoctoral Junior Leader Incoming fellowship from Fundación la Caixa and a grant of SEJI program from GVA that allowed her starting her own line of research at the ITQ. In 2022 she she started as Ramón y Cajal researcher in the Organic Chemistry Department from Universitat de València. Her main research interest is focused on the development of new heterogeneous catalytic systems for performing organic chemistry reactions with higher levels of sustainability.

Biography

Dr. Soranyel Gonzalez-Carrero is a Distinguished Research Fellow (CDEIGENT) at the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMoL) from the University of Valencia, Spain. She holds an M.Sc. in Experimental and Industrial Organic Chemistry from the University de Valencia (2013).  She was awarded a postgraduate fellowship (FPI) to conduct her doctoral studies in the Sustainable Chemistry doctoral program at the same university under Prof. J. Perez-Prieto and Dr. R. Galian's supervision (2014-2018). Her doctoral thesis received the best doctoral thesis award in Photochemistry by the Grupo Especializado de Fotoquímica (GRUFO) of Real Sociedad de Quimica SEQ (2020), and the extraordinary doctoral award in Chemistry by the Universitat of Valencia, Spain (2021).

She continued her postdoctoral studies at the Institute of Molecular Science in 2019. In 2020, she moved to the UK as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Chemistry, Molecular Sciences Research Hub of Imperial College London, in the group of Prof. James Durrant. During this time, she was awarded the H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Individual Fellowship to continue her research studies at Imperial College London (2021-2022). In 2023, she participated in an international consortium. During this time, she supported the Prof. Durrant group as group Leader of the Organic Solar Fuel sub-team. She was responsible for several projects at the national (UK) and international (EU) levels.

In May 2024, Dr. Gonzalez returned to the University of Valencia as Doctors amb experiència internacional (CDEIGENT) under the Programa para el apoyo a personas investigadoras con talento - Plan GenT from the Generalitat Valenciana.

Dr. Gonzalez's research interest focuses on the design, synthesis, and photophysical characterisation of organic and hybrid semiconductor nanomaterials for photovoltaic and solar energy conversion and storage applications. Her research experience is evidenced by 30 high-class peer-reviewed publications in different fields and with different semiconductors (nano)materials, all related to the synthesis of nanomaterials and solar energy conversion applications.
