M. Sc. Juliana Cuéllar-Zuquin is a PhD student at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) of the University of València (UV). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a European Master's degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling.

RESEARCH/ Her research has been primarily focused on (i) the study of theoretical chemistry and computational modelling techniques applied to the analysis of molecular systems, particularly in the context of DNA damage mechanisms, and (ii) the development of novel computational methodologies to explore the electronic structure and dynamics of complex chemical systems. Her work has been conducted at the Quantum Chemistry of the Excited State (QCEXVAL) group at the University of Valencia (UV), Spain, and within international research groups focusing on computational chemistry and photochemistry. To date, she has authored 6 publications, consisting of 3 book chapters and 3 scientific articles. These works have been cited 163 times, and she currently hold an h-index of 2. In addition to her publications, she has contributed to more than 10 conference presentations, the majority of which were international. Among these, 8 were oral communications.

TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT/ She has taught two third-year Physical Chemistry laboratory courses in the Department of Physical Chemistry, where she was the lead instructor responsible for guiding students through hands-on experiments and theory sessions, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. Additionally, she contributed as a teaching assistant in the International Intensive Course of the European Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling (EMTCCM), held in Valencia, Spain, from September 18th to 29th, 2023. Specifically, she assisted in the subjects “Time Dependent Wave Packet Approach,” part of the broader curriculum on “Advanced Methods in Electronic Structure, Dynamics, and Molecular Modelling,” and “Introduction to Machine Learning + Support Vector Machines + Random Forest,” a module within the subject “Machine Learning, Multiscale Simulations, and QSAR Methods Applied to Biomolecules” for second-year students of the EMTCCM program.

OTHER RELEVANT ACTIONS / She has actively participated in several science outreach activities, including EXPOCIENCIA, an open day at the Science Park of the Universitat de València in 2018, 2023, and 2024. Additionally, she contributed to the outreach program "Química a l’Escola" organized by the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universitat de València from 2021 to 2024, where she visited high schools across the region to engage students with talks and hands-on experiments. She also participated in the 2022 Equality Fest, specifically collaborating with a workshop titled "Make Your Own Slime + Luminescence," which aimed to introduce polymer science and luminescence to both children and adults attending the event at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento in Valencia. Furthermore, she was a speaker at the 2024 Pint of Science event, where she and M. Sc. Manuel Pérez-Escribano delivered a talk entitled "Chemistry... With a Computer?". In this talk, they presented theoretical chemistry to a non-specialist audience, highlighting the advantages and future prospects of this exciting field.
