Iguana Teatre returns to the stage with RICARD 3, a free version of the text by William Shakespeare.
Adapted and directed by: Pere Fullana
Cast: Carles Molinet, José Orfila, Lucía Sánchez
Performances: Friday, 27 January at 20.30 h., Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January at 19.00 h
Pere Fullana directs a performance that intends to go beyond the historical tragedy and avoid common places. The play delves into a malevolent mind that explains, in real time, a journey full of murder, shady deals and hunger for power. The personal contradictions and the inner fight of the main character acquire an essential role in a staging that does not adjust to the original text’s character list.
The proposal by Iguana Teatre has a cast formed only by three actors: Carles Molinet, José Orfila and Lucía Sánchez. They will be the ones to put themselves in the shoes of all the characters of the play, incorporating elements such as object theatre, masks, shadow theatre, circus elements or ventriloquism.
The result of all the components of this Ricard 3 is a scenic cabaret, which articulates as a metaphor that reflects the consequences of the hunger for power, a hot topic in the contemporary reality. The spectator can also identify to some extent with the main character, since we all have a part of Richard, Duke of Gloucester in our darkest imagination.
