The Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC + i) of the University of Valencia, from January 1, 2020, will only organise, promote and collaborate in activities in which parity is guaranteed.
The UCC+i UV, with the support of the Vice-Rectors for Innovation and Transfer, and that of Equality, Diversity and Sustainability of the University of Valencia, has joined the agreement of the Spanish Association of Scientific Communication on parity, aimed at strengthening gender equality in the field of scientific communication, and according to which the entity will only participate in activities where there are at least 40% women.
One of the objectives of Law 14/2011, of June 1, on Science, Technology and Innovation, is precisely to promote the inclusion of the gender perspective as a transversal category in science, technology and innovation. Also, to achieve a balanced presence of women and men in all areas of the Spanish system of science, technology and innovation.
With this agreement, and in compliance with the provisions of articles 38, 43 and 61 of the III Equality Plan of the University of Valencia, it is intended to guarantee the visibility of women in general and, especially, those dedicated to research in all those actions that it organises, or in which the UCC+i of the University of Valencia collaborates. In the case of activities involving 3 or 4 people, the minimum requirement will be to guarantee the presence of one woman, and from this amount the composition will have to be equal.
