Our group, Lisis, works in the area of school coexistence. We are a team of psychologists, professors and social researchers who develop our activities from the University of Valencia, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, the Pablo de Olavide University of Seville, the University of Zaragoza, the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos in Mexico and the Autonomous University of Nuevo León. We have been working since the nineties with children, adolescents, families and schools, with the aim of improving the quality of life in schools, preventing problems of victimisation and school refusal and promoting the healthy coexistence and social integration of students.
As can be seen in the sections of this website, our work is based on the idea that not all problems in adolescence stem from adolescents, and that therefore their welfare depends on the different scenarios in which they participate.
Its more immediate social contexts, such as family and school, have a great influence on their life. For this reason, we analyse the problems of school coexistence (bullying-victimization, school refusal, social integration problems) not only from the perspective of the person directly involved, but also taking into consideration their family system and their school environment. We study, for example, the degree of satisfaction with the their own lives, their self-esteem, reputation, perceived stress and depressive symptoms, their loneliness and their attitude towards formal authority such as teachers and school, but also the family atmosphere and the quality of the communication between parents and children, as well as their situation in school and their relationship with teachers.
We expect that our research and results contribute to the understanding of the adolescents' world and their life quality. We hope that our work, along with the work of other professionals, contributes to the development of effective prevention programmes in the area of school life. Everyone-parents, teachers and educators, and other professionals- can and must engage in the task of socialising our children, students, and adolescents for them to achieve their well-being.
