On December 12th 2023 (Salón de Grados – Facultat de Filologia, Traducció I Comunicació) LENA Research Group (North American Ethnic Minority Literatures in a Global Context) will celebrate a one-day Research Seminar entitled American Journeys, American Dreams, focusing on the origins, development, ramifications, and legacies of the journey and the American Dream tropes in U.S. literature, culture, and the arts through the 20th and 21st Centuries.

The seminar is organized by LENA members and coordinated by Prof. Anna Brígido and Carme Manuel under the umbrella of the research project “Reconfiguraciones de género, raza y clase social en la literatura étnica norteamericana de la era Obama/Trump” (GV/AICO/2021/249). https://www.uv.es/lenaval

Featuring three guest lectures and several panels where our graduate students will present their ongoing work, American Journeys, American Dreams aims to disseminate central ideas on literature, identity, migration, culture, and social justice amongst the local/university community. One of the morning lectures and the final book panel/book presentation on our latest publication Indigenous Journeys, Transatlantic Perspectives: Relational Worlds in Contemporary Native American Literature (Ed. Anna M. Brígido-Corachán) are hybrid events and can be accessed via Zoom. See program for details.

All events are free and open to the public. To obtain a certificate of attendance (8 hours) you have to be present in at least 80% of the sessions. To request a certificate, send an email to lenaresearchgroup@gmail.com by December 10th including your full name and the name of your degree /affiliation.
