Summary
The results of the research on the History of the National Plan on Drugs (PNSD) will be presented. This research was carried out by a group of researchers from the Balmis Research Group on the History of Science, Health Care, and Nutrition at the University of Alicante and is included in the monograph: Bernabeu-Mestre, Josep; Galiana-Sánchez, Maria Eugenia; Martínez García, Alba; Navarro-Aranda, Noelia; Tormo-Santamaria, Maria. National Plan on Drugs 1985-2025. Analysis and evaluation of Spanish public policies on addiction. PNSD History Project (Madrid, Ministry of Health. Publications Center. Secretary of State for Health. Government Delegation for the National Plan on Drugs, 2025) Available in PDF format
The review of its four decades of operation has not only made it possible to evaluate and analyze the impact of the continuity of the public policy embodied in the PNSD, with its ups and downs, but also offers conclusions and reflections that can help address the challenges we face in the field of addiction. The diachronic analysis and the testimonies collected have made it possible to ascertain the extent to which the objectives of the successive strategies and plans implemented were achieved and what obstacles and difficulties had to be overcome.
