The protection of personal data and computer security are two vital elements for safeguarding organisations' information. The Computer Security, Data Protection and Privacy research line, created and directed by Dr. Ricard Martínez Martínez, from the LISITT group of the Institute on Robotics and Information and Communication Technologies (IRTIC), specialises in the management of data protection and privacy in research projects that deal with sensitive data, mainly health data.
The knowledge and experience of Dr. Ricard Martínez have been key for the project coordinators to count on IRTIC to lead this activity, either as a participating or subcontracted entity. The experience in this field has been reflected, for example, in the collaboration agreement between Microsoft Ibérica and the University of Valencia for the creation of the Microsoft Chair on privacy and digital transformation.
The IRTIC's contribution in the field of data protection is crucial in this initiative as in others to which it has contributed its experience in areas such as consultancy and advice on the design, launch, implementation and support to users of personal data protection services, adapted to the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or technical advice and support in the field of new technologies, security, data protection and privacy.
The review of the adaptation of the digital contract to the new RGPD regulations on entity services was another of the activities carried out, as well as the verification of compliance with the new RGPD regulations on digital tools.
It has also provided technical support for the study of the privacy and security of platforms and basic self-training courses for entities on compliance with data protection regulations.
Since January 1st 2018, IRTIC has provided support in this regard to the European projects Body Pass, Bigmedilytics, MatchUp, Chaimeleon, Hercules, Wellbased, EUHUBS4DATA, ROSIA, Cyberkit4SME, CHRONICextrac and CRANE. It has also carried out this work with other entities and organisations such as Mailcertificado, Symposium, ADEIT and the Institute for Health Research La Fe.
