The "MATIS: Mediterranean-Atlantic Transport Intelligent Systems" project, promoted by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) within its Connecting Europe Facilities (CEF) program, aims to promote the implementation of intelligent transport systems (ITS) within the Mediterranean-Atlantic corridor area. The initiative, which will run until 2027, involves a consortium formed by 11 public and private entities and 30 affiliated entities dependent on them with competencies in road traffic management from France, Portugal, Italy and Spain.

The overall budget of MATIS is 124 million euros, of which the European Commission is subsidizing half, 62 million. The Association of French Motorway Companies (ASFA) manages the initiative.

IRTIC is in charge of coordinating the group of beneficiaries in Spain, composed of ABERTIS, AUTEMA, AUSOL and the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT). In addition, AUCAT and Castellana de Autopistas participate as affiliated entities of ABERTIS.

As for the two work packages into which the initiative is structured, the first contains activities related to project management, evaluation, coordination, communication and dissemination.

The second work package reflects all the ITS implementation tasks to be executed by the beneficiaries and affiliated entities during the duration of the initiative and is of great importance to the initiative.

MATIS will run for 48 months, from January 19, 2023 to January 18, 2027.
