
INTRAS will be in charge of carrying out an analysis of the relationship between connectivity, automation and road safety for the General Directorate of Traffic of the Spanish Government.
On 5 July 2022, the DGT has selected INTRAS to carry out this study in order to know the regulations, plans, specifications, as well as the effects that the connectivity and automation of vehicles has on road safety.
The study is integrated into the Lines of Action of the Research Plan included in the Road Safety Strategy 2030.
Specifically:
- In the Strategic Area "Safe and Connected Vehicles", it is established as a priority line of work of the Plan, "Enhancing connectivity and promoting the safe deployment of autonomous vehicles", and specifically states, "The objective of this line of action is to enhance the contribution of connectivity to safe mobility, through the development of new use cases, lay the regulatory foundations for the deployment of automated driving and consolidate Spain as a test laboratory for autonomous vehicles".
- In the strategic area "Integrated policies and international cooperation", the priority line of work is to integrate road safety with other national policies, within the framework of the 2030 Agenda, and coordination with policies on mobility, the environment, health, gender equality, the urban agenda, occupational safety and industry is considered a priority.
