The Universitat de València celebrates three decades of academic and social impact through their Economics Chairs

In commemoration with the 30th Anniversary of the programme of University and Business Chairs (UVchairs), the Universitat de València has organised a special workshop dedicated to highlighting the work and impact of their Economics Chairs. The event, celebrated past 7th May in the Faculty of Economics, gathered renowned academics and professionals to debate about the crucial paper of these institutions in society.

The Economics Chairs Workshop was an opportunity to appreciate and raise awareness of the importance of work that university chairs carry out in an economy level. The purpose of the event was to show how these chairs contribute to academic and social development, increasing innovation and the transfer of knowledge between the university and the business sector.

The event counted with the participation, among others, of the Principal of the Universitat de València, María Vicenta Mestre; the Vice-Principal for Innovation and Transfer, Rosa M. Donat; the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Francisco Muñoz Murgui, and the boss of the Transfer and Innovation Service Consuelo Cuenca. During the workshop, many academics and professionals from the economy area participated in a panel discussion titled: ”El impacto social de las cátedras de economía de la Universidad de Valencia”.

The event included the inauguration of the exhibition of pannels about work and the Economics Chair. After this, in the panel discussion about El impacto social de las cátedras de economía de la Universitat de València”, it was discussed how chairs contribute to the economic and social development of the community. Finally, there was a space of networking where assistants could exchange knowledge and stablish synergies.

Chairs represent collaboration tracks with wide goals in teaching, research, technological, knowledge and dissemination transfer. They count with the financial support of collaborative entities, that benefit from their proximity to research and knowledge generated in the University.

Institutional and Business chairs of the Universitat de València were created in 1993 as a tool to canalise medium and long term collaborations between the Universitat de València and many institutions, business and extern organisations, both private and public, in any knowledge field.
