PDI assistance

T�cnico entrevistando a un pdiThe UV, through Regulation of Measures for the Integration of teaching and research staff, approved by the Governing Council of 28 March 2013 (ACGUV 40/2013), which replaces the previous dated 31 October, 2007, aims to promote various measures to ensure the integration and equal opportunities of PDI with disabilities.

The actions that are performed most often are:

  • Information and advice to teaching staff.
  • Assessment of needs and functionality of the demands.
  • Issuing reports to the appropriate university authorities.
  • Information on identified needs to the competent bodies of UV.
  • Coordination with public and private entities, as appropriate, to facilitate the necessary measures to ensure full autonomy and equal opportunity actions.

Aid Levels

Aid of various kinds to compensate the disadvantages and difficulties encountered in the development of teaching are established.

  • Grants to the teaching profession. They are intended for the acquisition of support products and/or costs arising from support staff. They are awarded through competitions that are held at least once a year, usually in the first term of the year. It is mandatory to have a certificate of disability equal to or greater than 33% grade.  An application model that appears on each call, as well as the additional documentation indicated on it.
  • Aids to support teaching. Referred to the scope of teaching duties, including reduction of credits. Application model.

The teaching reductions may be applied when the certificate of disability equal to or greater than 33% grade is obtained, and considering the following dates:

  • When the reduction may be requested for the whole academic year, until 30 April of the previous year.
  • When the reduction may be requested for the second term, until 30 September.

The request shall be submitted together with supporting documentation and affidavit ensuring not performing any other teaching activity out of the inherent dedication to the UV.
The reduction is granted for the academic year or semester requested. For subsequent courses, a new application must be submitted.

Resolution

The UV has appointed an Assessment Committee that meets with the frequency required in terms of deadlines and requirements that are detected. Its function is to assess and report on the suitability of each personal project submitted.
This Committee is composed of the vice-principal with responsibility for PDIs, two doctors of the Health Service and Environmental Quality, two psychologists of the Unit for the Integration of People with Disabilities, the chairperson of the PDI Board and Chairperson of the Workers' committee.
