Universitat i Societat in Requena arises from the firm commitment of the City Council of Requena for lifelong learning, with the support of the University of Valencia. Universitat i Societat is aimed especially for people of the municipality and surroundings; and is intended for people aged 30 years or more with an interest in learning and motivation for culture.
It is implemented in Requena through a multidisciplinary itinerary of 360 hours, distributed in academic courses of 120 hours each.
Universitat i Societat en Requena presents various contents distributed among:
- Core subjects. There are four per year, with 24 hours each. They provide a basic introduction to several subjects:
- Course Plus I Wednesday Afternoon: Flora and fauna of the requena-utiel plateau, Spanish literature of the golden centuries, philosophy, geology.
- Course Plus II Tuesday Afternoon: Biodiversity and global change, contemporary history, prehistory, applied cognitive neuroscience: health, mind and body.
- Conferences. Cycle that includes a varied offer of topics of general interest.
