From September 10 to 12, we had the pleasure to participate in Y Congreso Internacional de Investigación y Creatividad en Enseñanzas de Lenguas (CIICEL), that was held in the University of Granada. Alícia Martí-Climent and Aina Reig have presented a paper on the ongoing project (CIGE2024/119) being carried out by the GIEL Group, titled “Videorreseñas y alfabetización multimodal en la formación docente: integración de la IA generativa en el diseño de la evaluación”.

In this paper we have presented the design of an assessment rubric for video reviews created by secondary school and university students, from  the field of language and literature. The proposal is a part of multimodal and media literacy initiative that promotes the transformation of knowledge through audiovisual content, integrating digital tools and generative artificial intelligence (GAI) in a critical and creative manner.  #Based on the previous research, it highlights the value of the video review as a genre that promotes engagement with academic discourse, culture of reading and helping students develop their own voice.

The goal has been to develop a clear, formative and competency-based assessment tool that evaluates linguistic, digital and communication skills. The section developed collaboratively by secondary school and university teaching staff, includes the indicators related to reading comprehension, oral expression, discourse organization, information selection and processing, creativity and technical quality. The innovation lies in the use of the generative AI to assist in drafting the assessment rubric. This experience proofs the potential of generative AI in the design of instructional materials and offers a critical reflection on the role of language teaching and teacher training.
