Optional activity

Included here are all student's mobility actions: research stays at universities and research centers of international reputation and attendance at conferences.

It is an optional module as it depends on the funding obtained at the specific calls and on the budget availability of the research projects participating in the Doctorate degree. Nevertheless, the academic board believes it to be of high importance, and thus, students are encouraged to take it. The number of hours set, 160, would match that of four weeks of stay. This number should be taken as an average as it depends on the type of scholarship and the grants obtained by the student and the Doctorate degree. The board advises full-time students to take a stay in another research center each doctoral academic year, if the economic situation permits. It also advises full-time students to attend at least one conference or international doctoral school per year. For part-time students, the academic board advises to take a stay or to attend a conference or a school at least once every two years. For these students, the board assumes that the length of the stay may be split in accordance with the student's availability.

A certificate of stay at the hosting center or a certificate of participation at a conference will be required together with a report from the student, with the approval of their thesis supervisor, on the activity carried out or on the topics addressed at the conference.
