Leo Lorenz, honorary doctor on the motion of the Department of Electronic Engineering and the ETSE-UV

Lorenz is a world reference in the field of electronics and for years he has a close relationship with the university.

The Governing Council of the Universitat de València, which met on 26 July 2016, passed the proposal of the ETSE to name the German professor Leo Lorenz honorary doctor. The director, Paula Marzal, has expressed her gratitude due to the work, dedication and commitment the electronics professional has maintained with the School. 

It is the first person who will receive the honorary doctor title on the motion of the Department of Electronic Engineering and of the ETSE-UV, and a world reference in the fields of electronics. More specifically in power electronics, particularly in power semiconductor devices where he has developed many basic and pioneer concepts that are currently used in all the fields related to power converters. The profile of Professor Lorenz has an industrial part, an academic part and also a dissemination and transfer of knowledge part. His relationship with the Universitat de València started on 1997. The first contact was established when he collaborated in the organisation of the congress Annual Seminar on Industrial Automation, Electronics and Instrumentation (SAAEI) of the Department of Electronic Engineering. Later, he participated as a member of the tribunal for different Doctoral Theses and has given several seminars in the Department of Electronic Engineering. Also, the group Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation Laboratory (LEII) of the Department of Electronic Engineering is member of the European Center for Power Electronics (ECPE) of which professor Lorenz is its founder and director.
