Academic, scientific or professional relevance:
The Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science is an innovative programme that responds to the growing demand for professionals specialised in data analysis and management in an increasingly digitalised world. The School of Engineering of the University of Valencia aims to train highly qualified professionals with technical skills in statistics, programming, machine learning and data analysis, as well as with a comprehensive understanding of the applications of data science across various professional fields.
Data Science students receive solid quantitative and technological training, acquiring a balanced set of skills for data analysis and evidence-based decision-making. In addition, the degree fosters the ability to collaborate and work in teams, and promotes openness to innovation, particularly in all aspects related to emerging technological trends that are shaping today’s digital environment.
The opportunity to formalise an international double degree agreement between the University of Valencia and the Università degli Studi di Palermo represents a unique opportunity for students from both institutions to deepen their knowledge of data science and statistics in an international context.
Both universities are members of the FORTHEM Alliance and share aligned objectives and interests in the academic, scientific, technological and cultural fields.
Practical information:
This international experience not only enriches students’ academic backgrounds, but also provides practical knowledge of different approaches to data analysis across diverse cultural and educational environments, while fostering innovative and critical thinking. These experiences equip students with valuable skills in data analysis, advanced programming and statistical methods, preparing them to navigate the global landscape of data-driven decision-making and making them highly competitive in today’s data-centred labour market.
Furthermore, participation in international experiences offers students the opportunity to build networks with peers and future professionals in the field of data science and statistics, while enhancing adaptability, resilience and intercultural communication skills—attributes that are invaluable in today’s interconnected world.
