Paula García and Alba Herrero, members of the GAP, attended the VIII Women Researchers' Conference, focused on mental health in academia
On Friday, May 17th, the Parc Científic Foundation of the University of Valencia, through the ICMol Equality Team, hosted the VIII Women Researchers' Conference at the auditorium of the Head Office Building of the Parc Científic of the University of Valencia. This edition focused on "Mental Health in Academia."
The event featured the prominent participation of Dr. Maria Fátima Lucas, CEO and founder of Zymbol Biomodeling, who delivered the keynote address titled "Mental resilience - the unspoken challenge of scientists and entrepreneurs." In her presentation, Dr. Lucas addressed the importance of mental resilience and the unmentioned challenges faced by both scientists and entrepreneurs in their professional careers.
Following this, a roundtable discussion was held on "Mental health in academia from a gender perspective." The roundtable included the participation of various experts and representatives from the academic community:
- Isabel Núñez Ruiz: Psychologist at the UV Equality Unit.
- María Vallés Iborra: Student Representative on the Faculty Board for Physics and Chemistry double degree students and member of the Equality Committee of the Faculty of Chemistry (UV).
- Laura Antón González: Representative of Research Personnel in Training in the UV's academic council.
- Fátima Lucas: CEO and founder of Zymbol Biomodeling.
This conference provided a unique opportunity to reflect on mental health in the academic environment, particularly from a gender perspective. The Parc Científic Foundation of the University of Valencia and the ICMol Equality Team are committed to promoting a healthy and equitable academic environment, recognizing and addressing the specific challenges faced by women in scientific research. The conference was a resounding success, bringing together professionals and students to share experiences and knowledge in a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.
