Continuous research seminar (7,5h in total): Concepts and figures of critical thinking II
Organized by the Research Group on Critical Theory and the Frankfurt School www.uv.es/critica
Session 1: The Dialectics of Critical Theory
The "Dialectical Epilegomena" is a sort of testament of T W. Adorno, where the conception of the Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School is synthesized. As usual, his language is maddeningly complicated. Therefore, the commentary on the first of the Epilegomena aims not only to favor its comprehension, but also to distill lessons on the current meaning of Critical Theory.
Reading Text: Theodor W. Adorno "On Subject and Object".
Date: Tuesday, November 13from 17:00 to 19:30
Session 2: Black Critical Thinking
Frantz Fanon: contributions to critical theory and decolonizing political practices from the zone of Non-Being.
Reading text: Frantz Fanon: Black skin, white masks, Madrid, Akal - excerpt.
Date: Tuesday, November 27 from 17:00 to 19:30.
Session 3: Resistance(s) and History
In this session we will ask ourselves about the study of past resistances, a difficult task if we take into account that, usually, these do not leave a trace in the hegemonic archives through which history is written.
Reading texts: James C. Scott, Los dominados y el arte de la resistencia, Txalaparta, 2003 - extract.
Date: December 11 from 17:00 to 19:30
All sessions will take place at the Facultat de Ciències Socials, Aula 3A2.
To participate and receive the texts to be discussed it is mandatory to register (free of charge) by sending an email until November 7 to:critica@uv.es
