Of Bulgarian origin, she has developed an international academic career, combining European and Anglo-American perspectives in her work. Azmanova received her PhD in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame (USA) and has taught at prestigious institutions such as: University of Kent (UK), where she was an Associate Professor; European University Institute (EUI) in Florence; Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and City University of London. Her research focuses on the intersection between political economy, social justice and democracy, with a critical approach to the structural inequalities of contemporary capitalism.
