The research group on Critical Theory has publishe a special issue on social pathologies in the prestigious journal "Quaderns de filosofia".
Can the term pathologies, arising from the medical context, be applied to social entities? What exactly does the term social pathologies describe: societies that somehow make their members "sick" or can society itself be described as suffering from a disease? And finally: what is the relationship between (pathological) society and (pathological) individuals? A lot of questions also arise about the application of the concept to social reality: what phenomena can be described by the concept of pathology and which parts of society does it affect? Does it describe large systems such as capitalism or in general the system of social reproduction, or does it rather refer to the perception of individuals, their reason and ideologies? And to what extent does the former influence the latter? These are also the basic questions with which this monograph aims to contribute to the international debate.
