Desde la vida dañada: La actualidad de la teoría crítica de Theodor W. Adorno
- Jordi Maiso, Complutense University of Madrid
If Theodor W. Adorno can claim to be more than a classic of the 20th century thought, it is because his critical theory offers fundamental keys for dealing with contemporary problems. Particularly relevant in this respect is his understanding of the logic of socialisation of advanced capitalism and the way it affects the constitution of life, even in the most common, everyday things. His critique of a tendency towards "total socialisation" and his analysis of the resulting anthropological transformations cannot simply be applied to our times, but they do allow certain features of our contemporaneity to emerge in a new light. Hence, the recognition of Adorno's relevance nowadays must be based on the realisation of the historical distance that separates us from him.

Adorno lector de los clásicos de la sociología
- Joan Gallego, Universitat de València
In this session we will discuss Adorno's reading of the classics of sociology, mainly Weber, Durkheim and Marx, in his sociological and social theory texts. Adorno's critical reading, a dialectical reading capable of developing the thematic or objective element that "creeps in" to his regret in the classics when they address epistemological and methodological questions, allows him to develop his proposal for an interpretative sociology understood as an understanding of incomprehensibility.

Theodor W. Adorno o el arte de pensar lo no-identico
- Vanessa Vidal, Universitat de València
The session will be focused on specifying how Adorno makes a critique of the identifying thought of classical or more traditional thought. Instead of working with concepts, Adorno offers a proposal for aesthetic thought that establishes a relationship between philosophical and social thought and art. Through aesthetic thinking, he opens up a space for the non-identical, for what is excluded or ignored by concepts, which allows him to get closer to the nature of social reality.
