New book by Vanessa Vidal Mayor.

Art says and is said in many ways. For this reason, there have also been different ways of approaching it from the philosophical aesthetics throughout the history of this discipline.

This essay constructs the notion of interpretation of art by the young Adorn with respect to proposals by authors such as Hegel, Marx, Lukács, Freud and Benjamin, in order to concretize and defend the actuality of the conception of aesthetics as a materialistic interpretation of that which in art cannot be understood by reducing it to meaning or to the author's intentions, but which, because of its unconscious, unknown or even unknowable character, says more about reality than what is comprehensible.

Therefore, this interpretation is no longer centered on the subject, but on the enigmatic character of art as an expression of a society that does not know itself. But it is a question of enigmas that are no longer solved by translating them into the abstract, but rather dissolve them. The materialist interpretation of this art is thus presented, in its turn, as a critical aesthetic of society.
