On Wednesday, April 2, it will take place at the La Nau Cultural Center of the University of Valencia the last meeting of Classroom cycle to innovate the culture financing model, organized by Fundación Gabeiras y The Pipe – Impact Investment, with the collaboration of Gabeiras and the support of the Ministry of Culture, through aid from the European Union – Next Generation EU. On this occasion, it is also carried out in collaboration with the Research Unit in Cultural Economics of the University of Valencia and the UV Cultural Observatory.
This cycle of Classrooms is framed in a broader project that aims to move towards the creation of an Impact Investment Fund in Culture. To this end, in previous meetings, other essential aspects have been discussed; from why culture should be an object of interest in impact investing to the importance of impact measurement regarding sustainability in the cultural sector, the report being a fundamental element for the impact economy.
Starting from the premise that places the current financial opportunities and tools of the cultural sector as options that do not seem to meet all the needs of its business fabric, the need to update the economic framework of culture arises.
In this sense, the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Valencia is preparing a study of analysis of the demand for financing that entities in the cultural sector have, paying special attention to the branches of audiovisual, performing arts and live music.
This study allows an approach in terms of financing to the unmet needs, and to the challenges, until now neglected, of the cultural sector. In this classroom, some first conclusions will also be presented regarding the analysis of the available means and the possibilities for propose a new economy of culture.
During the meeting we will have Jordi Sanjuan and with Diego Munoz, professors in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Valencia. The Classroom, whose welcome will be provided by Ester Alba Pagan, Vice-Rector for Culture and Society of the UV, will be moderated by Patricia Gabeiras, director and founding partner of Gabeiras and for Pau Rausell, Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Valencia.
