In an academic event held at the University of Valencia, the Spanish researcher Juan Bautista Peris Roig successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled: ‘Integral humanism in the face of global citizenship: reason, technique and democracy in Jacques Maritain’.
The thesis, supervised by Professor Agustín Domingo Moratalla, has obtained the highest qualification (Excellent Cum Laude), the International Mention and has been proposed for the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize.
Beyond academic recognition, the thesis represents a philosophical contribution of profound ethical and political significance. It argues that, in the face of the challenges of a hyper-technological and fragmented world, the key to a truly advanced democracy lies not only in the efficiency of the tools provided by AI, nor in the multiplication of rules or norms, but in the consideration of the face of the other, mutual care and cordial dialogue.
