The Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences of the Universitat de València will host on 1,2, and 3 October 2025 the 7th International Congress on Bioethics, under the theme ‘Nuevas tecnologías, bioética de catástrofes y democracia inclusiva’ (‘New technologies, bioethics of disasters, and inclusive democracy’).
The meeting is aimed at continuing with the previous congresses and set the focus of the reflection on the ethical challenges of contemporary societies, more and more transformed by new technologies, global disasters, and the fragility of democracies.
The congress is based on three main points:
1. The role of bioethics in technologized societies.
2. Sustainable and inclusive democracy within the new global context.
3. The role of bioethics in disaster situations.
The current technological revolution, marked by the development of artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of things, and robotics, entails unprecedented dilemmas that affect directly to daily life, political organisation, and democracy future. In contrast with this, the congress suggests an ethics of care as a frame to assemble solutions that reinforce social cohesion and to promote an advanced and inclusive democracy.
The congress will feature national and international specialists in bioethics, philosophy, law, social sciences, medicine and, technology, and it expects to become a space for plural reflection on how to build more fair and charitable societies in a context of technological acceleration and global crises.
