Synopsis
In 1904, Ësáasi Eweera, one of the last bubi leaders who opposed Spanish authorities in Fernando Poo island (a territory that currently belongs to Equatorial Guinea), was detained by colonial guards and taken by force to Santa Isabel, the colony’s capital. Imprisoned and gravely injured, Ësáasi Eweera died three days later. His village was burned and many of its inhabitants disappeared.
