STEP Project

The Chair of Family Business of the University of Valencia, is part of the STEP project of international research on Family Business, in collaboration with different research groups of universities that also belong to the international consortium STEP Project (Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices) (https://thestepproject.org/).

The STEP Project was founded in 2005 due to the collaboration of academic entities around the world. 15 years after, the STEP Project has managed to be an independent organization that aims to be a leader in family business research by exploring business through the different generations and developing solutions that have immediate application for business leaders.

The STEP Project is an initiative launched to explore entrepreneurship practices within family businesses. The global leaders of the leading academic institutions and business families belonging to the STEP project are engaged in research, teaching and practice-oriented activities to generate solutions that have immediate application for family leaders. In order to generate cutting-edge research, best-practice solutions are offered to support entrepreneurial families across generations.

The mission and vision of the STEP Project refers to the commitment to collaborative research to achieve a venture between generations which allows to carry out a highly relevant and applied research that makes a remarkable difference for both business families and their corresponding stakeholders around the world.

The Chair's first contribution to the STEP Project has been linked to obtaining data on succession processes carried out by family businesses in Spain. Being a project developed in more than 40 countries, it aims to explain how these succession processes occur between the different international contexts, identifying challenges in each of them.
