‘Magic: From myth to virtual reality’

Ramón Mayrata is a specialist in the evolution and cultural interpretation of illusionism. He has worked as a journalist and translator, combining his work in the media as a scriptwriter for radio, theatre and television with teaching. Together with Juan Tamariz, he founded the publishing house Frackson, dedicated to the edition of technical books on magic for professionals and high-level amateurs. Illusionism has become his object of study, being involved in his work as a poet, essayist and novelist. His latest publication, ‘Fantasmagoría, Magia, Terror, Mito y Ciencia’ (‘Phantasmagoria, Magic, Horror, Myth and Science’) published by La Felguera (2017) is about the role of illusionism in the creation of the technologies of spectacle, in the appearance of cinema and in the genesis of virtual reality.
