Once again, El Retiro Park will be the venue for the 83^rd edition of the Madrid Book Fair, which runs from Friday 31 May to Sunday 16 June. The event attracts more than three million visitors, making it the most important book festival in Spain.

As in previous years, Publicacions de la Universitat de València will have its own stand at the event, where it will present the latest new publications and the best of its extensive catalogue. UV's stand will be number 9, located in block 26C of the Science and Universities Square, where, for the second year in a row, different Spanish university presses and the UNE (Union of Spanish University Presses) will be present.

In what is expected to be a historic event, the Madrid Book Fair, whose central theme this year is Sport and Physical Activity, will bring together more than 400 exhibitors, including bookshops, publishers and distribution groups.

In addition to the presence of the most outstanding new and backlist books, the stand of Publicacions de la Universitat de València will also host author signings. The signings will take place as follows:

• Maria Iranzo Cabrera, author of El Papus, will be signing books on Saturday 1 June from 11:00am to 1:30pm.
• Raquel Sánchez and David San Narciso, publishers of Con pase y de etiqueta, will be signing books on Sunday 2 June from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
• Isabel González Gil, author of La poética quietista de Valle-Inclán, will be signing books on Saturday 8 June from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
• Francisco Jiménez Aguilar, author of libro Masculinidades en vertical, will be signing books on Sunday 9 June from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
• Eduardo Leste Moyano, author of Vida y muerte del bacalao, will be signing books on Sunday 16 June from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

If you are planning to visit the Madrid Book Fair, here are the opening times for this year's edition:

• Monday to Thursday: from 10:30am to 2:00pm and from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.
• Friday to Sunday: from 10:30am to 3:00pm and from 5:00pm a 9:00pm.
• New this year: Friday 7 July there will be a illuminated night session and the Fair will stay open until 11:30pm.
