The Universitat de València, in the framework of its agreement with the Provincial Council of València, and through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Innovation and Transfer, announces the UVemprén Rural entrepreneurship campus awards.

This call is aimed at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students of the Universitat de València who may have a business idea compatible with one of the three challenges presented by the research groups collaborating in the programme:

• Challenge 1: Rincón de Ademuz: The rural landscape as a resource for the development of experiential business ideas

To generate innovative business ideas structured around the landscape, character or essence of the place, proposing the recovery of agricultural or forestry land, infrastructures or abandoned buildings in the reference territory.

• Challenge 2: Province of València: Innovative services for changing rural areas

To propose initiatives, productive or not, around the unsatisfied needs of the rural population of the province of València. This ranges from issues related to consumer goods and services, leisure and recreation, work, to those linked to education and training, health and sanitation, housing, work-life balance, etc.

• Challenge 3: Province of València: Rural culture and heritage, an asset for the whole of society

To propose business initiatives based on the enhancement of the historical built heritage and the culture of the Valencian rural environment. The aim is to revalue rural heritage and culture, either by making it available to people, or by recovering trades, ways of life and traditions linked to the rural world.

The selected students will participate in a public presentation of their projects, which will lead to the awarding of two prizes of €5,000 and two runners-up prizes of €2,500 each for the implementation of their projects.

The main objective is to help students to develop their business ideas and entrepreneurial projects with a triple impact (social, economic and environmental) that contribute to solving problems of depopulation in rural areas.
